Tuscany (Toscana)

Tuscany is a region in central Italy, known for it's capital, Florence, the birthplace of the Renaissance. As you'd expect, the city is a renaissance masterpiece in the senses of architecture, art, and culture. The statue of David is one of the most recognizable icons of the city, which was created by Michelangelo. Other famous works on display include Botticelli's in the Uffizi Gallery and his Duomo basilica. The diversity of the region is characterized by endless rolling hills, the Appenine mountains, and beaches with islands. The region of Chianti is important in the production of wine and olive oil.

Places we will be visiting include: Florence, Pisa, Siena, San Gimignano, Lucca, Elba, Livorno, Montepulciano, and more.

The region is a true symbol of Italian cuisine, red wine, and renaissance architecture. It is also known for a lively seaside in places live Versilia and Viareggio. The Leaning Tower of Pisa is located in the western part of the region in the city of Pisa.
