Marche is a seaside and mountainous region in east-central Italy. Its coastline is home to the Riviera del Conero, a stretch of beautiful sandy beaches with coves, cliffs, and medieval villages. It's cities include the port capital of Ancona, and the birthplace of the famous opera composer Rossini, Pesaro. Monti Sibillini Park is filled with valleys and glaciers, and atop those valleys are a large number of fortified high villages. Marche is a wonderful representation of Italy as a whole, and is often compared to Tuscany, as it has many of the same characteristics with much less tourists and high prices.
