Friuli-Venezia Giulia is the northeastern most region of Italy, bordering Slovenia and Austria. It is known to be a cultural crossroads of central Europe and southern Europe.
Some of the cities and towns that we will be visiting in this tour will be Trieste, Udine, Gorizia, Pordenone, Cividale del Friuli, Grado, Aquileia, Lignano Sabbiadoro, and Tarvisio.
Other attractions include The Dolomites mountain range, the Julian Alps, the medieval town of Sesto al Réghena, San Daniele del Friuli, and more. Day tours to Austria and Slovenia are also a possibility depending on the tour.
The food in this region is a mixture of dishes from Italian, Austrian, and Slavic cuisines. Ham is a very popular item with the San Daniele variety being the most celebrated type of prosciutto in the world. There are also many different types of cheeses native to this area. There are a few good types of wine both red and white, but the most famous of drinks from this region is Illy espresso, one of the most profound brands in the world of coffee.
Our adventures will ranges from beach resorts on the Adriatic, to Alpine ski resorts, forests, parks, castles, and caves.
Flights will be to and from Venice, and we will most likely be spending some time there as well.
